Henry began writing poetry in 2000 following the death of a friend, a Gaelic Bard, Donald MacDonald of South Lochboisdale. Four collections of his work have been published to date:

A First Sighting
A Turbulent Wake
The Guidman’s Daughter
The Hammer and the Fire

A Voyage to Babylon

He has also worked with the artist Kym Needle to produce A Trail of Dreaming and Wayfarers, both collections of paintings and poems on Australian themes.
He read at the Edinburgh International Book Festival in 2008
